Chroma Cycle Beta Version 2
Hello! Welcome to the release of my first official game, Chroma Cycle. It has been a great pleasure, even though it has been filled with frustrations! I wait anxiously for feedback. But I hope you all like the game. It is a simple game. On the surface it does look easy. But as you play, you will begin to see the challenges emerge as you try to get all the way from stage 1 to stage 40 with but a single delicate life.
While you can just simply grab the game. I would appreciate any donations you think are fitting for the game! Merely a dollar in the tip jar would be great! And please pass on the word to all your game loving friends!
The game in its development cycle has come through a lot of hammering. One world think that such a simple looking game would be simple to make. But after three months of nearly non-stop work on it (with a break for a few games that released in that time), that honing in on a level of polish and completeness is not easy. For every little thing you finish, another little detail or multiple facets will come up which challenge a developer as the project moves forward.
Here is my last change log:
- Change Log Beta 2
- * All major components are in the game now
- * Rewrote stage controller as the spaghetti was out of control and become hard to read, manage, and add to
- * Intermission screens occur at stages 1,10,20,30,40 and two end game messages depending on where you started.
- * Stage 40 boss can be completed by cutting off and surrounding the catalyst objects from the boss and yourself.
- * It will take a few seconds for a catalyst to self destruct when cut off.
- * Boss stage has no other cycles other than the boss who defies the rules and breaks you walls.
- * If you can reach stage 40, your highest stage will move to stage 42 so you can always play stage 40 to practice
- * Stage transitions added
- * Screen shake added when cycles crash.
- * Added Catalyst pulsing.
- * Fixed several bugs along the way
Here is what my todo list still includes, and mind you this list kept growing and shrinking on a constant roller coaster.
- * Polish : Add Help/How to play screen
- * Fix the control left/up thing (queue turns)
- * Fix Level 40 win after intermission
- * Fix oddball problem with levels getting stuck in game over with no high score entry
A few of these things, such as the up/left turn problems have persisted throughout development. But I have a solution. Unfortunately it will require a bit of rewrite on how controls for the cycle is handled.
